We were recently featured in You Magazine for The Mail by columnist Mary Killen.
She tasked us with creating a bespoke hairpiece, representing the high-end option for her comparison piece on hair toppers. We were thrilled to take on the challenge of addressing Mary’s hair concerns, while providing the fabulously natural results and luxury service we are known for. Follow along to witness her incredible transformation!
Addressing Hair Concerns
Though Mary is not suffering from a hair loss condition, there were areas causing her concern. Firstly, she wanted to disguise her ‘self-parting fringe.’ Mary’s full fringe is affected by the natural hair growth pattern around her hairline, causing the hair to split direction abruptly leaving an unwanted gap. Secondly, her troublesome double-crown, which keeps her lacking volume whenever she tries to style it. As the growth pattern of both crowns intercept one another, Mary found her hair to look unruly and unmanageable at the back. Whilst Mary is not experiencing hair loss, who would say no to a natural volume boost?

A Bespoke Solution
After discussing her personal requirements at length, our Wig Consultant Caroline got to work designing Mary her custom topper, understanding the desired look to be subtle but enhancing. Caroline created a bespoke template of Mary’s head shape and size in order to determine the proportions of the handmade lace foundation, which provided the base for Mary’s new hairpiece.
Caroline then set about sourcing Mary’s perfect hair match, that would merge with her existing hair flawlessly. An added benefit to wearing a topper or hairpiece is that you don’t have to dye your roots so frequently, which is kinder to your hair alongside saving you time and money. Caroline sourced several tones and shades of the finest natural European hair to create a super-natural blend, before presenting the bundle to Mary at her second fitting.

Custom Topper Transformation
Once Mary’s handmade bespoke foundation had been fully hand-knotted with her carefully selected natural European hair by our brilliant team, it was ready to be cut and styled on her head during her final fitting. Mary was in awe of her new boosted head of hair which looked so undetectable yet made so much difference. We think Mary looks truly fabulous, both with and without her custom hairpiece, though we hope it proves a reliable companion anytime she wants a little something extra!

"Many people have told me I look ten years younger and asked if I've had a facelift"

FAQs
What’s the difference between a hairpiece and a topper?
A hairpiece is a broad term referring to any kind of hair addition that provides extra coverage and volume to a specific area, though generally they are smaller than a traditional topper. A topper (also known as a half wig) refers to a hairpiece with a more specific placement on the head. A topper traditionally covers the crown, as well as the front of the head, near to or including the hairline. They can of course come in different size variations depending on your specific hair loss needs.
How do I know what size hairpiece I will need?
During your free initial appointment, our experienced wig consultants will examine your head and hair loss pattern to determine the size of the hairpiece you will need in order to achieve the coverage and density you are hoping for, as well as which of our collections would work best for you. Don’t worry, this is not something you’d be expected to know yourself!
How do you attach a hairpiece?
Generally a hairpiece will be attached with small root clips into your surrounding existing hair. This should secure your piece without applying tension to your own hair.
